Daan Utsav’ formerly known as ‘The Joy of Giving Week’ is a “festival of philanthropy” that aims to become a part of the Indian ethos, with the Week being celebrated every year covering Gandhi Jayanti by engaging people through “acts of giving” – money, time, resources and skills – spanning the corporate, NGO and government sectors, schools, colleges and the general public.
‘Sparssh – A social initiative’ at N L Dalmia Institute of Management Education and Research, Mumbai celebrated the ‘Joy of giving week’ from 2nd October to 8th October 2016. This celebration was a huge success which made people to realize their social responsibilities and feel the Joy of giving. A huge amount of resources were donated by the students, faculty, staff and many more anonymous people from the institute. The collections will be further channelized to the people who actually need it.
We often tend to neglect the people who unknowingly make a huge difference in our lives. These are the ‘Daily heroes’ of our society. ‘Sparssh’ took an initiative to spread some moments of joy amongst the housekeeping staff and the security of NLDIMSR, Mumbai and arranged a function exclusively for them. This function was to felicitate the staff and let them know that they play a vital role in the institute’s progress.
A NGO fair was also organized during the ‘Joy of giving week’ in which, various NGOs had their products to sell which would eventually help them raise funds for their respective NGO. This activity also received a great response from the people and the event proved to be a successful one.
All the above events were inaugurated and embraced by the Director-in-charge Prof. Dr. Gulab Mohite and CEO of NLDIMSR, Mumbai Ms. Seema Saini along with the other faculty members.
The events emerged out as huge success due to the immense efforts by the ‘Sparssh’ team members under the guidance of Prof. Pius Moras.
