Seminar on Risk Management by Dr. Chinmoy Ghosh,HOD Finance, University of Connecticut USA.
The Finance Forum of N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research organized a seminar on “Risk Management” on 10th August 2016 by keynote speaker Dr..Chinmoy Ghosh, Head of the Department of Finance at School of Business, University of Connecticut.
He started the seminar with educating the students about basic risk management concepts. He further explained the various risks that have emerged as a result rapidly changing economic and financial systems around the world. He added that risk can also be an opportunity. He explained the sources of risk, especially financial, operational and market risks and discussed the various ways in which they can be mitigated or managed. He discussed the use of derivatives as a tool to manage risks and also various other ways such as merger arbitrage to overcome certain business specific risks. He explained the importance of managing operational risks. The speaker educated the students about the current risk management practices being used in organizations worldwide. He emphasized that along with financial risk management, Enterprise Risk Management (ERP) has also been gaining immense importance. He emphasized that risk management is important to every organization and it follows from the strategy of any organization.
He kept the students engaged throughout the seminar, thus, making it a knowledge sharing session. The seminar ended with Prof. Dr. Anil Gor felicitating the guest.
