Aakarshan 2022
AAKARSHAN is NLDIMSR’s Flagship Intra-Division Event, which is spread across 3 days and multiple sports, adventure, cultural and artistic performances. This year, the events began from the 17th of August 2022, Wednesday, with multiple rounds of all the competitions being conducted over the 17th and 18th of August 2022. The Finales of these competitions, the Felicitation Ceremony for all the Winners and the Closing Ceremony, is being organized on the evening of 19th August 2022, Friday.
Aakarshan 2021
Following the long-lasting tradition, this year’s Aakarshan took place from the 15th Aug 21 to 21st Aug 21, and it was a great success. Seniors arranged events like Adwars, Dalmias Got Talent, Roadies, and many more for the junior batch of 2021-2023 to help them bond in this virtual environment and impart time management and team-building skills. A grand event followed the one-week virtual event in the institute’s auditorium, where faculty and students showcased their talent on stage. Finally, the seniors handed the baton to the juniors, who promised to make Aakarshan equally memorable for the next batch.

This is the flagship cultural intra-collegiate event of our institute. The first year students are the participants, testing their bonds, emotions and physical abilities to land the prize for their respective divisions and creating memories. It teaches students, how MBA is not just about books and presentations, but also about fun, teamwork, and a competitive spirit.

Aakarshan is the institute’s flagship cultural intra-collegiate event. It’s organized by seniors for the freshers. Aakarshan 2017 was a grand event which turned into a prelude to showcase how MBA is not just about books and presentations, but also about fun, teamwork, and a competitive spirit.
Aakarshan 2016
Aakarshan is a cultural event of N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research. The intra-divisional event is planned, organized and managed by the second year students with innovative and out of the box contests and challenges wherein the first year divisions compete amongst themselves. The event is a blend of Management and Non – Management activities, spread over 2 days.
This event essentially aims at being the icebreaker amongst the first year students so that they can freely interact with their classmates and seniors, thereby endorsing an environment of mutual trust and friendship. The event teaches them time management, polishes their communication skills, enhances their creative thinking and makes them team player.

This year the winners were students of 1st year Div A (Marketing specialization) and were presented with the Rolling Trophy of Aakarshan.
HOWZATT 2020
Howzatt is NLDIMSR’s very own T20 inter-college cricket tournament. An annual tournament aimed to showcase their spirit of sportsmanship, talent, and dedication towards the sport among 10 B-Schools of Mumbai. Howzatt is the only T20 inter B-school tournament in Mumbai.
Howzatt 2020 comprised of 8 teams. It comprised 25 matches, including an alumni match, 20 league matches, 3 playoff matches, and the Finals.
HOWZATT 2019
Howzatt is an inter B-school T20 cricket tournament organized by NLDIMSR. It is the only coloured clothed, white leather ball 20 over cricket tournament organized by our institute for all the B-schools nationwide. Howzatt was conceptualized by us with a vision to help students excel not only in studies but also in other extra-curricular activities. The aim is to produce all-rounders for the industry, which requires people to be skilled and adept at multitasking.

Howzatt is an inter B-school T20 cricket tournament. It is the only coloured clothed, white leather ball 20 Cricket Tournament organized by our Institute for all the B-schools nationwide. Our institute were the runner ups in 2018.
HOWZATT 2017
HOWZATT 2017 is an annual Inter B school T 20 cricket tournament organised by N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies & Research. Top 10 B schools from Mumbai participated in the tournament which was spread across for 10 days starting from 20th January 2017 to 30th January 2017. After some exciting league rounds and knockouts, the final was scheduled between Lala Lajpatrai Institute of Management and N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies & Research wherein N.L.Dalmia emerged victoriously.
Shikhar 2022
Shikhar is a national-level paper writing competition where the finest students from the best B-Schools in India battle it out to attain supremacy in intellect and creativity. And the theme of for Shikhar this year is, “Central Bank Digital Currency: Is This the Future of Money?”
Shikhar 2021
N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research organized its flagship event, “Shikhar”, a national-level B-school paper presentation competition on 26th September 2021 via Zoom. The topic was, “Gati Shakti Master Plan: The Game Changer for the Economy.” The panel of judges included Dr. Brinda Jagirdar, retired General Manager and Chief Economist of The State Bank of India, who is also an independent consulting economist and member of many committees. The second judge was Dr. Ganpati Rathod, Assistant General Manager at Karnataka State Finance Corporation, who has over 25 years of experience in performance management, executive coaching and mentoring. The third judge was Dr. Mrinalini Kohojkar, Economic advisor to Design Excellence India and Structcon Pvt ltd. She also worked as a professor and director at Thakur Institute of Management Studies & Research. The fourth judge was Mr. Shashank Mendiratta, Economist at IBM’s public policy and cognitive practice, with prior experience as an economist at ANZ.
This year we received an overwhelming response to Shikhar 2021 with 240 entries and 120 teams from some of the top institutes in India. 6 best teams were chosen as the finalists.
The presentations and respective question-answer session for each team were conducted. The finalists focused on the different aspects of the Gati Shakti Master Plan and how it will revolutionize the Indian economy. They also focused on the strengths, self-sufficiency, efficiency, and contributions to the production sector. Further, the teams highlighted the challenges, the solutions, and the emerging potential of the Gati Shakti Master Plan.
The winners were Javed Sheikh and Azim Bawa from N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Science and Research.
The First runner-up were Arpita Sen and Deepansh Jagotra from NMIMS Mumbai.
The Second runner-up were Chirag Bhati and Amit Borade from the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai.

Shikhar is the Flagship event of N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research.
The theme of Shikhar 2020 was Will ‘Make In India For the World’ help the Indian Economy bounce back on its journey to become a Global Powerhouse? Shikhar 2020 has symbolized the excellence of NLDIMSR as we received 62 research papers (reports) from teams from Premier B-Schools of India out of 178 teams who had registered for the event. The top 6 papers made their way for the final on 26th September 2020 and did a commendable job. The finale was judged by eminent economists of our country, Dr. N Srinivasa Rao, Economic Advisor, MoRD, Govt of India, Mr. Karan Mehrishi, Lead Economist, Acuité Ratings & Research Limited and Ms. Avni Jain, Economist, HDFC Bank. After a very tough competition, Akshay Pai & Pratik Kumar from SCMHRD-Pune were announced as the Winners of Shihkar 2020 with Mitali Jadhav & Saurabh Pratap Singh from NMIMS-Bangalore as first runner-up’s and Deepika Dwivedi & Athulya Nair from SIMS – Pune as Second Runner-ups.

SHIKHAR 2019 | N. L. DALMIA B-SCHOOL PAPER PRESENTATION COMPETITION
Shikhar 2019 is the Flagship event of N.L.Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research. A top level B-school paper presentation competition which was held on 26th September. Many institutions participated and submitted their report from which we selected TOP 5 Institutes and they presented their papers, from which Judges selected TOP 3 Winners which are as follows. 1st – Shruti Goel and Divya Nalluri from National Institute of Industrial Engineering NITIE, Mumbai. 2nd – Aditya Pradhan and Palak Lapasia from N.L.Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research. 3rd – Radhika Phatke and Vibhavari Tumulri from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies NMIMS, Navi Mumbai.

Students from all over India come to the Institute to indulge in a healthy combat of knowledge, erudition and comprehensive learning. This year the topic was “ Global Economic Challenges and opportunities; their impact and relevance to India.
Shikhar 2017
Shikhar, a national level paper presentation competition, is the flagship event of N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies & Research, Mumbai which was held on 26th September 2017. It was started in the fond memory of chairman founder Late Shri Niranjanlalji Dalmia. This year the event topic was·crowing Protectionist Policies across the World, Are we moving towards Deglobalisation? Opportunities and Challenges for India”. Reputed colleges from all over India participated in the event to acclaim supremacy in intellect. This year’s participating colleges were IIM Ahmedabad, BITS Pilani, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, MICA Ahmedabad & our own N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research. The event was duly graced with the presence of the judges Mr.Ajay Rastogi, Mr.Piyush Singh, Mr.Mohit Jain and Mr.Kapil Jha.
Shikhar resonates to a Peak in Sanskrit. The event aims for the students to achieve the peak of supremacy in intellect and creativity.Year by year the event the event keeps on moving ahead in a battle to come to solutions to problems which hard hit our economic cycle. In the same combat, Shikhar 2017 indeed evolved to a potential high swearing by its motto:

SPORTS LEAGUE EVENT
The Sports League is a three-day event conceptualized, planned, and executed wholly by the students, backed and supported by our professors. The first and second-year students get to showcase their skills along with unity, team-building, and excellent team effort. Currently, the Sports League comprises seven sports: cricket, football, badminton, table tennis, carom, obstacle relay race, and tug-of-war.

The meet was a huge success as we shared intriguing conversations, real-life experiences, and industry-specific knowledge. To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, the N. L. Dalmia alumni meet is being organized every year for full-time as well as part-time students. The platform is used by alumni to contribute to their alma mater towards growth and emphasizes the need for further strengthening the links between the alumni and current students. This helps them to maintain their hunger for excellence and knowledge, and celebrate their unique individuality, to excel in what they love most.

The N. L. Dalmia Parivaar celebrated the bright beginning of the PGDM Batch 2018-2020 with 120 students and 2019-2021 with 120 students in the corporate world by conferring PGDM students with their Degrees. The Convocation Ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr T R Ramachandran, (Group Country Manager, India and South Asia, Visa International).He advised students to use first 5 years of job to find out what career they wish to make and get relevant skills for the same.

MEMORIAL LECTURE EVENT
Memorial lectures are a source of pride and honor for any institution, and the celebration of this event in memory of our late founder, Shri. Niranjanlal Dalmia is always an awaited moment. In the wake of the rapidly rising India, which is redefining the rules of the business game, this year, we were honored to have Mr. Dilip Piramal, Chairman and Managing Director of VIP Industries Ltd., as our guest and speaker for the lecture. Mr. Dilip Piramal, a leader par excellence and a firm believer in the nation’s potential, spoke about the theme, “Challenging Status Quo”.
Mr. Dilip Piramal gave a thoroughly stimulating masterclass on more than half a century of the journey of marketing, branding, and managing VIP Industries in turbulent times. He spoke about all the innovations and disruptions brought about by VIP Bags through these years. The lecture was enlightening for the students as Mr. Piramal demonstrated how VIP Bags changed its perception from being an “ageing brand” to a “youth product” through advertisements over three decades and an introduction to Skybags. He also spoke about how the country’s economic policies affect all the decisions that need to be taken by an organization. The audience thus created for the subject culminated in a highly interactive Q&A session that completely engaged the audience.

What started as a mere idea has now taken shape and is one of the most awaited events of the institute. The team aims to make this a proud property of N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research.
A suite of short, carefully prepared speeches, demonstrations, and performances that are experience-focused and cover a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and provoke ideas that matter. The initiative is of the students, by the students and for the students. NLDtalk concentrates on exploring topics that are beyond ordinary. The empowering speeches delivered by our esteemed guests will not only help the students learn and gain a new perspective but also aid innovative thinking.
NLDtalk is not only a platform for professional/motivational speakers but also for in-house student orators who may be young though bring richness with their own unique experiences. Our purpose is to give a platform to those who don’t often have one.
The first edition witnessed speakers like Shree Gauri Suresh Sawant, Aayushman Sinha, Dr. Raja Roy Choudhury, and our student speaker Bhavya Roy.

Our First International Conference on “Rethinking Business Strategies to Drive Innovations and Business Values” is scheduled on 25th & 26th February 2022 in Mumbai.
CONFERENCE THEME: In today’s business environment, it is critical for businesses to innovate and observe business values. As a result, organizations are required to work in partnership with diverse stakeholders. The conference aims to urge researchers to observe, examine, and present their studies to benefit organizations and society at large. International Yoga Day 2023
The Online Yoga Session organized by N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies & Research on the occasion of International Yoga Day was successfully conducted on June 21, 2023, via Zoom. The session aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff of NLDIMSR. The event was led by Dr. Minati Sahoo, a faculty member at NLDIMSR, and Ms. Jigna Thakkar, an Art of Living Yoga Teacher.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day that was observed on 21st June 2022, N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research organized a guest session on the “Importance of Yoga” for its students, faculty members and non-teaching staff members. The theme for International Day of Yoga 2022 was “Yoga for Humanity.” Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition, so to shed light on its importance, the guest speaker was Geetanjali Dixit Mam. She is a Yoga Alliance qualified teacher from The Yoga Institute, Mumbai. She has specialization in Hath Yoga, Fitness Yoga, Pre-Pregnancy Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Post Pregnancy Yoga, Yoga Philosophy and Kids’ Yoga. Miss Shivani Banpurkar (Student, PGDM 2nd Year) started the session by introducing our guest speaker, Geetanjali Mam and welcomed the dignitaries, faculty, non-teaching staff and the students.

NLDIMSR’s Mulyankan 2016 – Annual Paper Presentation Competition and Finance Seminar
N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research organized Mulyankan, their flagship event which included an annual national level finance paper presentation on 16th September 2016 followed by seminars by eminent speakers from the financial sector on 17th September 2016. The competition topic for 2016 was “Impact of Brexit on MNC Operations
Day 1: Mulyankan 2016 saw participants from various top B-schools across India. Six teams representing JBIMS, NMIMS, Welingkar, Aditya Institute of Management Studies, Lala Lajpat Rai Institute of Management and NLDIMSR competed to win the esteemed title of Mulyankan 2016.
The presentations of all teams included a brief history of the European Union & Britain, causes and effects of Brexit on England, European Union, world trade and MNCs. Every team had chosen one MNC to be studied in detail with regards to the impact of Brexit on its operations and financials. The teams studied the business model and financials of the chosen MNC and also proposed various strategies to counter the impact of Brexit. The chief guests assessed the performance of each team, asked questions and also suggested areas for improvement.
The panel of honourable judges included Dr. Brinda Jagirdar Retired Economist SBI, Rishi Shah – Economist and Consultant at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Services, Inc. and Dr. Meenaxi Dhariwal, Deputy Campus Head & Dean- IBS- Mumbai. They enlightened the participants and the audience with their valuable inputs and also threw light upon various areas of improvement.
The winner of esteemed Mulyankan 2016 trophy was the JBIMS team, followed by NLDIMSR and NMIMS teams at the first and second runner-up position respectively.
17th September 2016: On the second day of N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research organized Mulyankan, erudite personalities from the financial sector discussed the challenges and opportunities post Brexit.
Mr. Anil Talreja – Partner, Deloitte, explained the precursors and constituents of the European Union (EU). He highlighted the implication of UK leaving EU in terms of legal complications, telecom networks, credit ratings, housing prices, the value of the Pound and the impact of all these factors on interest rates and the overall economy.
Mr. Madan Sabnavis – Economist Care Ratings explained the implications of Brexit on India, WTO, Euro currency and EU. He highlighted that the referendum was not a way to solve economic issues. He also discussed how the other member nations may consider exiting EU post Brexit.
Mr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh – Chief Economic Advisor SBI educated the audience about Indian economy – current status & way forward. He emphasized how it is becoming increasingly difficult to predict and understand the global economy post the 2008 crisis. He also highlighted the contrast between economic policies of developing countries vs. the developed countries and presented upon the impact of Brexit.
Dr. Meenaxi Dhariwal – Deputy Campus Head & Dean- IBS- Mumbai presented an overview of increasing globalization and interdependence. She probed if this could be the beginning of an end to globalization. She discussed the American economy and explained the economic cycle of booms and recession.
Uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity are becoming a part of the global economy. Decisions taken by a single country are affecting various other countries and corporations. The world economy is evolving rapidly and the seminars paved a way for the students to understand this evolution.
