Ace Club along with the Marketing Placement Committee of N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research organized a guest session on “Retail Strategy in Action”.
We feel extremely proud of the fact that we hosted Prof. Sham Kamat for this insightful session.
The takeaways from the session were as follows:
1. There are eight different aspects that are important to winning in retailing i.e. place, product, value, people, communication, systems, logistics, and suppliers of the retail.
2. Walmart has the core strategy of overall low-cost leadership, as the firm has been controlling its cost drivers and simultaneously making their supply chain more efficient, which has helped them to stand out in international markets.
3. The change in the positioning of Shoppers Stop as a BTL i.e. Bridge to Luxury brand from being a premium brand has a positive impact on their sales and also led to more acceptance by the customers as well as vendors.
4. Amazon has a strong influence on any new market it enters, as it tests ideas rigorously and adopts the ones that are most effective along with the efficient services sales which drive maximum margins for the firm.
